GES022 - Strata Tower

After leaving St. Pancras Hotel, Speed and I left for Strata. I hadn't seen many if any reports, and had passed it while going to South London recently. After discussing it with OT & Hydra at Gillette, it was on the shortlist.

On arrival a walk around the perimeter proved nothing obvious other than an array of cctv and drunks clustered in a shadowy corner that would have been useful. I'd already spotted a potential access point, and we agreed to give it a go.

So I whizzed up, and felt all was ok. We got down to the ground level and tried the squeeze over an alarmed door. Somehow others had done this, and Mr.Speed is not the widest of people, however we couldn't do it. So we searched around a bit further, mindful of the array of cctv waiting to capture our movements and end our campaign.
A search of the resources available provided a way into the building, and it was game on! Passing huge plastic vents pumping hot air into the building, we began the ascent. A thirsty Speed using any bizarre utensil he could in the flats to get water into the system.

Near the top we heard noises from above and quickly darted into a ring of flats for cover. A look around the flats and use of the toilet, the noise was still coming. So we carefully headed up. It turned out to be a load of thick plastic strips banging about in the wind. Relieved we got out onto the roof area of the building.

We looked over the back of the building to see a long sheer drop

I know some who've been here don't like the views, mostly being council estates. But I loved the sense of space here.

The wind while not hurricane force, was cold and ruining shots. I was desperate to get some decent ones, as I wasn't planning on coming back. Speed was getting bored waiting, as he'd done his stuff. So I grabbed a couple more, and we descended.

The occupants of this building in the one bed tiny flats wouldn't have much room, but amazing views.

Thanks to Speed for company
